Hi everyone. I'll try to keep this short. I joined an MD only (MD owned) private practice, productivity model practice 2 years ago. At that time there was no talk of a buyout (you can see where this is going). About 1 year into the gig, we had a buyout. I opted to stay (I got back my buy in and some stock, plus a non-compete smh).
Flash forward 1 year and things have changed negatively as it relates to our compensation, culture, and lack of transparency regarding compensation/where the money is going. Multiple physicians have left, workload is exponentially higher, and given the lack of work/life balance we are having a hard time recruiting. I realize that I won't be able to stay in this situation long term as I will burnout. I'm thinking about doing locums full time for a while or longer.
Anyone here do locums exclusively? The flexibility, control, scheduling autonomy, and entrepreneurial nature of locums make this option seem attractive. Any advice or tips on doing locums full time would be greatly appreciated.
