Hello all,

I have gotten some really good advice on here and truly appreciate all your thoughts/information.

I graduated undergrad two years ago and currently work for a really solid financial tech company in my opinion. My dad is a dentist so I always had dentistry in the back of my mind but did not take any science/pre-req courses in college. Two years into the office/corporate culture I am really starting to consider pursuing dentistry...I received a 3.0 GPA in Economics but feel like I'm a ton more mature/focused now and never really challenged myself academically. Just had a few questions below

-Is taking Part-time classes at a local college while working my full-time job competitive enough for dental schools or am I better off going for a full-time post bacc program? My plan would prob be 2 classes a semester plus summers and to finish in around 2 years? I ask this because obviously the part-time classes are cheaper and more of easing into this pursuit/keeping my full-time job for safety

Any thoughts would help. I want to pursue this but also realize I need to give myself the best chance to get into a school as quick as possible preferably. Just trying to see if there is a huge difference between a Full-time Post Bacc or Part-time classes with a full-time job in business on the resume.

Please let me know, thank you!

I did the 2 classes/semester option and got in. What matters is doing well in those classes AND the DAT AND getting good experience (shadowing, etc).

Ok thanks so much for the quick response, can I ask if you had previously taken any science courses? Did you take all your Pre-Reqs part-time? I guess I'm wondering if maybe the schools will question whether I'll be able to keep up with a FULL course load of sciences during dental school...

I took some BS physics classes in undergrad. I took all of my dental school prereqs part time at a few different places. Just focus on doing well in the classes and doing well on the DAT and you'll be fine. If they see you've done well on those, then they know you can pass NBDE and that you'll be able to graduate.
