sooooo, many folks believe that one version of the DAT may be easier than another version (i am also curious). this thread is simple, all you have to post is what version of the test you took (ex: crocodile, piano, etc) and your scores across the board (bio, chem, ochem, rc, qr, pat, ts, aa). lets see if there is a correlation between test version and scores. yes i know sdn is a small sample size, varying preparation, personal differences, etc., but i still think it could be useful to validate/dispel some common notions about the difficulty between the 2 tests. i cant wait to see the results!

i will start it off:
(piano)
bio:27
chem:23
ochem:24
rc:23
qr:15
pat:22
ts:24
aa:22

I wish I had gotten the piano version just so I could shoot these theories out of the water...

arguing which test version is "harder" or not is subjective and merely arguing semantics. I dont think we should be wasting our time with this. I dont mean to put down a thread but i just feel like we arent gonna get anything useful from this. cuz look, on the day of the test ur not gonna kno wat u got till u hit RC and even then wat difference does it make?

my intention was not to get an argument going about which test was harder, i just wanted to see if there was any correlation and people could take away from it what they wanted. i myself dont really believe there is that much difference in difficulty, though i have only taken one version of the test.

Floating bridges- RC= 24

I don't even remember if there were any tone questions, but what made the passage difficult is the fact that sooo many of the questions require you to search for multiple answers (ie. which of these are false, and then those statement I is true, statement II is false type things). It was just really tedious and annoying. There were a couple inference questions though which were kinda tough.

Yeah I'm pretty sure 20 of the 40 questions didn't even have numbers!😱
If you get this version...better hope you studied your TRIG.

+1 on the trig thing! And read VERY quickly because there are quite a big majority of word problems! 👍

same here... Floating bridges.
My RC was 21 but my QR was also a 15. What was up with all the trig on that version? Identities for isosceles triangles? I never saw any of that on the study materials I used.

Not to kill the thread, but can we really establish a trend from this thread you think? I mean that would be assuming we all studied the same amount or knew the same things concepts. It's not like adcoms will care ;p

anyone else with the floating bridges version, would you please refresh my memory about the other 2 passages in the rc?! I was soo focused on doin the test i totally blanked after i was done! im just curious - just a basic overall idea will help me remember. Thanks! 🙂

one was like central nervous system stuff, white matter grey matter dorsal horn I don't really remember the details or the other passage at the moment..

there were three straight tone questions that I think were at the end of the first passage

Could someone please explain to me what these "crocodile-piano-floating bridges" versions are? I've never taken the real exam before. Going in for my first time this month...😛

well according to this thread, the average person on this forum has a 21 AA and 21 TS. Top 8% in the country...

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between crocodile, piano, and floating bridges? Is it just the RC section? Thanks

Those are three different DAT tests that people manage to distinguish from one another based on the reading passages (one test has a passage about crocodiles, one something about a piano.. etc).

This is of course not where it ends. There's been a lot of talk on SDN about these tests, and some insist that one is easier whereas another is much harder. Of course there is no way of confirming such claims... but people often get the piano version and complain of its difficulty, whereas people who get the crocodile version and do well are told that they got lucky... endless argument that lead to the creation of this thread... 🙄

I've actually had the opportunity to take both the crocodile and the piano version of the test. Here are the breakdowns.

Crocodile 6/30
18 QR
22 RC
21 Bio
18 GChem
17 OChem
18 TS
19 PA
19 AA

Piano 9/28
23 QR
20 RC
22 Bio
23 GChem
20 OChem
21 TS
20 PA
22 AA

So, after taking it a second time the only score that went down was my RC. After taking the test the first time in June, I took a month off from studying before hitting the books hard for the final two months. It may be the extra studying, but I did feel that the piano DAT had science questions that were more straight forward, but also had a few that asked about minute details that you might have never come across while studying. Maybe this will help shed some light on the different tests.

(FRAP/ethics)
RC = 19
TS = 19
AA = 19
PAT = 20

the RC questions were actually easier than I expected. my prob is that I'm a slow reader and ran out of time in the last passage.

Floating Bridges Version:
PAT: 18
QR:15
RC:20
BIO:20
GC:18
OC:19
TS:19
AA:18

Had the same version, got almost the exact same score. QR was crazy hard. all freaking word problems and trig identities. I wish I had studied more of them...
