I was originally going to just PM Nate about this, but I figured it might be nice to get the opinions of other UMDNJ students and you guys might benefit from the responses...

So I was browsing pre-allo and I saw this thread. It specifically refers to a scandal going on at NJMS.

So it occurred to me that NJMS and UMDNJ-SOM are linked. A few questions to UMDNJ-SOM students:

Is this as big of an issue at UMDNJ-SOM as NJMS?

Would this be something one (such as myself) might be discussing at an upcoming interview?

Does this affect your daily lives at all?

Is this actually a big deal?

Any other stuff we should know?

Thanks, guys.

I started a thread about this in June and I was flamed for not searching other threads. It's been going on for a while and Nate and DOcjay have commented that it has not affected their education at all. The dean resigned and they have a new dean, and some new budget restructuring. Try searching around.

This is an attitude on SDN that pisses me off. If everyone used the search function exclusively, there would be very little discussion on here. Get a life people... no one asks you to read repeat threads. 👎 😡

Anyway, tihs has been something I have been curious about too. I'll use the search later when I'm not btwn classes 😉

BTW, not against you DRKUBA just to clarify...

sorry, the pre-allo gave me the impression this was a newer issue.

The problem's not in people deciding not to read a repeat thread. The problem is that you are not likely to get the same great input into a situation the 47th time the question is posted. Some people will snap and tell you to search for it. Others will try to help. However, there are those few who actually really have great insight into the problem, and they'll just ignore it because they've already been through it...over and over again.

If you don't use the search feature, then you may be cheating yourself out of some great responses and valuable information because people are tired of answering the same thing.

Chances are...

If you think you've discovered some new and interesting information that everyone is dying to know, you haven't.

If you are wondering if the topic you want to post about has ever been discussed in detail before, it has.

If you've heard a rumor that's destined to turn the world upside down, it won't.

If you think your situation is unique and has never been mentioned before, you're wrong.

I've found it very interesting to go back through old posts from years past to see what kind of things have changed over the years. Very little has. Years of SDN history (and wisdom) is avilable for those brave few who are willing to explore it.

I know Nate and DOctorJay had said there were no issues but I just want to add my insight because I was curious about this issue.

I had heard from some current students (medical and graduate students) that there were issues then mentioned on SDN, more I think with the graduate programs than with the medical school. But still that changes with some of the faculty and staff, nothing was majorly changed yet there were changes none the less. In talking with these people who were hestitant to give me information (which I'm not really sure why 😕 ) they mainly said that these were merely speed bumps as not to worry with the whole picture at the moment. But the trickle down effect will be evident I'm sure to some extent. The whole organization is under scrutiny and I'm sure that UMDNJ-SOM however small the extent of involvement will be glad to move past this.

👍 👍

SCPOD, being modest, has failed to mention that he actually did a little informal research on this very topic and found that SDN hasn't changed in the past, I believe, 8 years. So, the people that have been on here for a few years and have already given our opinions on various topics get a little annoyed at giving it again; i.e., we just won't. We never meant to piss anyone off by saying it, we just thought we would lend a helping hand; you will find far more information in the search than you will by a new thread. That was all we meant.

Thanks for the imput. Now rather than let this thread spin even more off topic... BAM LOCKED.

(ironically, that means someone with the same question will have to find an even older thread or create a new one, but this one is not salvagable)
