Hi there
I came upon this question while using some study guides. What do you think?

If an organic molecule is water soluble after making the solution weakly acidic, it most likely contains what functional group?

Can it be an alcohol?

The question is incomplete as posted, alcohols can definitely be soluble in weak acid solutions (but not due to protonation, just due to their inherent neutral polarity). The question seems to imply though a transition from unsoluble in neutral solution to soluble in weak acid

I didn't pay attention to wording. Your handle indicates, I'm assuming, you know organic well. I took a guess, so I take I would have missed this on the MCAT. I see what you mean though. Thanks.

I've forgotten at least 80% of organic, so it's kind of a misnomer. But I'm confident on this 😛 Your answer isn't wrong, just doesn't read into the question. It would be phrased more explicitly on the MCAT
