Hi, im a college soph right now and thinking that i might do foreign medical school. Ive heard tons of rumors/facts/etc about them. Can someone answer the following questions AND tell me things to consider prior to enrolling (all i want is Internal Medicine/Pediatrics/Family Medicine, NO subspecialties)?

1) Tel Aviv,SGU,Ross,AUC, etc etc are really the top schools i heard. What GPA/MCATS are needed? Can someone give rankings on the top 10 or whatever # it is of the well known foreign medical schools?

2) The BIGGEST reservation i have about attending foreign med schools is that i heard that even after completing residency you have trouble practicing in different states? Does this problem apply to SGU/Tel Aviv/other top schools? How much of a problem is this? Which states? How do you get around it and how difficult is to?

3) How do you finance the medical education at one of the above schools? I heard US federal money is off limits/sparse.

4) are there any citizenship problems? I mean, living in a foreign nation for 2 years doesnt impact your US citizenship (even if its just a US territory)?

5) how difficult is it to graduate from the school (i heard its a weeder),get rotations in the US, pass the Steps 1/2, get an american IM residency?

No offense, McGillgrad, but you should at least inform the people on this board that you give out advice without having attended medical school in the carib.

it seems a little sketchy to me that you give out a lot of carib advice without having attended.

No offense, but just because you do not know something does not mean that other people are as ignorant as you.

You do not gain any special knowledge about medical school by attending it besides experience about being in the school. I do not reply about experience but I know about the rest and I let others know.

The top schools will give you federal loans. I believe you can get federal loans for the Australian and Irish schools too.
