Howdy,

Is it possible, and if so, how does one enter the fundamentals of engineering exam into the AMCAS website? It's an 8-hour weighted exam against those who took the exam that day in the fundamentals of engineering (after your bachelors) and you're only given a pass-fail score. Is there a way to do this? It is a licence and you're registered with the state etc...

Thanks

Based on my experience last year, you have two options:

Option #1 (what I did in my case)

There was a spot last year for entering "Other Test Scores." It was pretty self-explanatory. You enter the Test Name, Test Date, Test Section (if applicable), and Test Score. I had test scores for the Psychology GRE, and since I had scored in the 95th percentile I wanted to share that.

Option #2 (this is what I'd recommend in your case)

You could just try to incorporate it into one of your fifteen "Experience" sections. Write up a blurb and file it under "education" or "work experience."

I think Option #2 makes sense for you, because with Option #1 you would just be listing a score as "Pass," which doesn't tell a story on its own the same way that a percentile score does in my case. With a percentile score the person reading my application could see that out of 100 people taking the exam, I beat out 95 of them. The person reading your application is unlikely to know that "Pass" is the highest score for your engineering exam, and might be left wondering whether the exam is scored Fail/Pass/Honors or some other grading scale.

Getting the license and being registered with the state seem to me like bigger accomplishments than a "pass" stamp on your record, so I suggest turning this into one of your experiences. (But make sure you can sell it as something that's helped prepare you for med school!)

:luck:

This. But honestly, the FE isn't going to carry much water for you. It's most certainly NOT a license, as all it does is serve as a prerequisite to sitting for the PE exam, which IS a professional licensure. Putting it on your AMCAS or not will make not difference in your ultimate success in achieving an acceptance.

Ah, true. I suppose it isn't really a license..

I took the exam just to take it. It was a pain, but I passed it.

I suppose the reason I thought it was a license was because it is posted on the "myfloridalicense" website etc.
