First aid says that loop diuretics cause hypercalcemia. I remember in my classes we learned that loops cause a decrease in the luminal + charge, and therefore you absorb less Ca, aka hypercalciuria (not in the blood). Can someone clarify this?

This. I was surprised how much of my exam was figuring out stuff you wouldn't or couldn't have memorized and instead had to reason through a little physiology/pathophysiology. Not a huge amount, but it felt good to stretch the logical legs a bit knowing that those are the questions that stratify the scores (and feeling like I was getting them correct; we'll see July 10).
