I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. You can surely explain this situation at interviews if you would like. I suggest bringing up your GPA to a 3.5 for DO schools. Have you taken the MCAT yet? study hard for that one and make sure you have solid clinical exposure. I recommend applying to DO schools broadly and low-tier MD schools but if you have a high MCAT score then your chances are much higher. Good luck

I suggest bringing up your GPA to a 3.5 for DO schools.

He just finished junior year. He would have to spend four more years full time in school and get straight A's in order to hit a 3.5 GPA. Not realistic.

OP, if you're academically prepared, do an SMP.
