With our aging population, more will need colonoscopies but there won't be enough GI docs to do them by 2020, per the article.

Does anyone think diagnostic imaging (e.g., virtual colonoscopy) will improve enough by 2020 to make up for this shortfall?

Or will colonoscopy training expand to other branches of medicine?

I'm just guessing, but I guess no. Getting the appropriate infrastructure and certified radiologists will be a big challenge. And you'll still need GI guys for biopsy, etc if you find something.

Already happening.
