Would appreciate any input on this: pursuing ENT because of interest in H&N ablation/reconstruction. Job market for all academic jobs has been tough in recent years i think, but with better cancer treatments and translational research going on now, is this a dying field to pursue. If not interested in general ENT, is it wise to pursue H&N given less future surgical intervention and potential oversaturation?

It is not going anywhere during your foreseeable career. But the job market can definitely saturate.

Yeah, highly doubt H+N surgeries are going anywhere in the future. There have also been advances in resection for oropharyngeal cancers. The major problem is every center seems to be opening a fellowship, way beyond what we need as a society.
