*Official ruling regarding the usage of "Lynch" on MU*

Spurred on by this thread (We really need to change the word "lynch"), the moderation and admin team have discussed and come to a conclusion on the matter of how to treat the word "lynch" on Mafia Universe.

The word "lynch" is uncomfortable to a significant amount of users on MU, for understandable and valid reasons. Changing that one word to another word isn't gonna change how we play the game, and we're all ultimately here to play a game, and I hope that we also all want everyone to be happy whilst playing it.

So we will change the official usage from "lynch" to something else. I.e. the Modbot, OP's and threadmarks will use a different word going forward. What this word will be has not yet been determined, that's the next step for us to discuss.

The word "lynch" will not be banned. I.e. users may still use that terminology. We are making another word the site standard, however, and then the rest is up to the community.

I know that I am not really playing that much any more but I would like to bring this up in our community too. I think that it would be a good idea for us to switch language to "vote" rather than lynch.

It's still an ongoing discussion on MU, but there's also the topic of what should replace mylo/lylo since it no longer makes sense in absence of the term. Although, I wonder if we'd had to change mayoral cycle terms as well to avoid confusion.

I think terminology changes would be relatively straightforward

"Vote" to eliminate player
"Nominate" for mayor vote

More options for Mylo/lylo, which might be less organic but probably not any more difficult to pick up than vca etc.

MVL, mvlo could be options to replace Mylo
VL, vlo could be options to replace lylo

I agree with what paws brought up though, changing the terminology won't change the game and I do think it's time to revisit the use of "lynch" itself.

As a bonus, people won't have their votes autocorrecting to "lunch" all the time!

It was something that I thought about when I first was reading about the game.
