I mentioned this in spectator chat for the current game but wanted to give mods of future games my take on something like meat locker time and only having the use of pm’s during a limited night cycle. I don’t like them and it makes the games not worthwhile for me to play.

Why?

I work and have limited time to be on already and I’m sure you’ll find others like me. For meat locker time it never became an issue because night closed early almost every night. If it hadn’t I would have either had to consistently break the meat locker rules (which I threatened the mods I would do) and post strategy before night closed or be effectively limited to only posting the couple hours I was home in the evenings.

For a game like what is currently going (which I think has happened before) where pm’ing is limited to a short night cycle, those pm’s would be useless to me as they happen when I’m sleeping. As a player that loves pm’s and finds utility in them, I would hate this and it would be a handicap compared to the other players. Having a longer night cycle it would still suck but I’d at least be able to respond when I get up and ask some questions that I would get very delayed responses to.

I know I’m probably in the minority but it’s something mods should take into consideration when designing games as there are those of us who try to play while also working. Although, that is now a rare occurrence for me.

Meat locker is a reference to the Meats game run earlier this year. During the night cycle, no strategy could be posted on thread, only memes and jokes and the like.

It just occurred to me that I've only played two games in the past year, and the last one was in February. 😱 Last weekend I played One Night Ultimate Werewolf with some IRL friends and it had me itching to play again! Next semester is supposed to be more chill, so hopefully I can make time.
