Anyone else getting their packet together for the October 13th board? I'm not MD/DO but there aren't many Army pharmacists around...

Or perhaps explain how their selection process went. I'm still a little hazy on the whole scroll process, etc.

The boards are pretty straight forward. I believe you are in medical service corps as a pharmacist. They board everyone in MSC together (bug docs, audiologists, optometrists, psychologists, pharmacists, etc.) in one annual board. As long as you have your packet squared away and have got the green light from MEPS and they have enough slots for your AOC you should be good to go. The only hiccup you may have is if for some reason they have more pharmacists than they have slots that are going before the board. If that is the case you could end up on the order of merit list which is like a waiting list for a slot.

If you are given a slot then they send your packet to Congress to have a scroll approved (takes 30-90 days usually and it took about 60 days for mine to go through). Once your scroll is approved by Congress you can take your oath and commission if you are reserves.

Right, I'm going to be MSC, MOS 67E. Packet has been completed, hoping to get my MEPS physical next week. I'm prior service enlisted so I know this process is a little more complicated than a typical enlistment packet. From what I've been told, there were 8 slots the last few years so I'm hoping it will be the same this year. I just don't know what I'll be up against in terms of competition. I was an infantry squad leader and have some really good LoRs from my previous commanders, all field grade officers. I'm also a current VA employee, so I think that may help my chances as well. I've been practicing in the civilian sector since 2013 so I'm hoping the board members find that more appealing than a new grad.

They also started my scroll process as well, my recruiter showed me that the packet was submitted two days ago on his online recruiting tool. I believe he said they also gave me 7 years of creditable service, which I guess helps me for promotion? Not sure what he meant by that but I'll take it.

The prior service will help especially the letters of rec from former commanders who are officers. Being a VA employee won't matter. Being in practice since 2013 in your AOC will help though. I was almost 10 years in my field when I commissioned as well.

7 years of credible service means you will have a backdated date of rank meaning you are eligible for promotion to the next rank earlier, but you still have to meet the minimum time in grade requirements.

With what you got going there would have to be some other seasoned applicants for you to not pull a slot I would think!

I'm hoping to get a favorable outcome from the selection board.

Best of luck to you. I am currently awaiting the board as well. I applied last year and was told by my recruiter I was "recommended" but placed on the OML. We resubmitted my packet this year and waiting some more. A few days ago DOD sent letters to my employer asking for info to verify my employment. Anyone have a feel for if they are likely to do this even if they're not planning on offering me a spot? I understand the board hasn't even happened yet so I was surprised to hear that. They didn't reach out to my employer last year. Wondering since now my boss is asking if I'm leaving and it's a little awkward lol

I had a packet ready for a 67E reserve slot...but unfortunately all 6 slots were cut last minute 🙁 hopefully next year.

Best of luck!

Looks like I'm going to be waiting until next year, unless I get lucky and they don't fill up all slots in October. MEPS wanted a bunch of extra paperwork two days before packets were due on the 22nd. I know historically all slots are filled on the first board, so we will see. Not holding my breath on this one.

Part of the normal process to get your packet ready. You can tell your boss you aren't leaving unless going active duty. That's all you have to tell them. They can't really do anything about it or it violates USERRA

I've just been informed that there will only be one board for MSC officers. All selections will be made next week, no November board. Soo.. guess I'll see you guys FY22!
Oh wow. I wish my recruiter would give me info like that. Well good luck yes not holding my breath either.

Just spoke to my recruiter, no mission for Pharmacy for FY22 ?? He's going to look into it and get back to me but not sure if you guys have heard anything different

Got confirmation from my recruiter the other day. No mission for 67E for FY22.
Thanks for confirming. It looks like the Army is moving towards civilians to fill the positions =[

Just wondering if the no mission for 67E for FY22 is for Active duty positions as welll?

Yep. No mission for active duty or reserve. Zero need for pharmacists apparently. He told me to touch base again in July to see if anything changes.
Just spoke to my recruiter again today. I was going to switch to 70B to get my foot in the door but sounds like they are only accepting internal applicants. He said people are not leaving their positions right now. I'll keep you guys updated.

IS that for overall Army or just that certain recruiting location numbers if that's even a thing for AMEDD recruiting?

Updated numbers, recruiter just told me FY22 is selecting 13 67Es.
