  • Dental schools participating in ADEA AADSAS will report to ADEA AADSAS by March 1 the names of candidates who hold a position in their entering class. After March 5, ADEA AADSAS will report to each institution the names of candidates in their entering class who are holding acceptance(s) at additional institutions. (Only names are reported with no other additional information.) The process for candidates holding multiple positions is as follows:
    1. Dental schools with candidates holding multiple positions on March 1 of the year of admission will contact such candidates and give them a minimum 15-day notice to affirm their position in the class or to withdraw their position.
    2. If the candidate does not respond within the allotted notification time frame, the dental school may choose to withdraw the candidate from the entering class.
    3. Notification times may be shortened after April 15.
    4. Dental schools will have the option of rescinding an offer of admission to candidates who are holding positions at multiple institutions.

If we were accepted Dec. 15th and put a deposit down at that school and then also been accepted recently (end of Feb.) but haven't put a deposit down at the second school does that still count as holding a position?

Also, in reference to your link and the point about holding multiple positions at different schools, are the 1,2,3,4 in order or are the dental schools able to skip right to option 4 and just rescind the offer once they get your name?

If you communicated to School 2 that you intend to hold the position, you are holding the position, but at some point, they will ask for a deposit or they can kick you out. You can indicate accepting an offer without putting down money, and this is why the rules are set up the way they are. I would expect both School 1 and School 2 to track you down and make you declare, or else you have to give School 2 a deposit and give up your spot at School 1.

Usually schools will have to document their warning to you for option 4 before actually pulling you from the class.
