in general, what is the average g.pa admitted to pharm schools and what is porobably the lowest g.p.a that has a chance of getting in, considereing having everything else like a good pcat score and shadowing and letters and ll that??

also, i took General Chem 1 and got a D, and then retook it and got an A. When applying to pharm schools will they include the "D" in the calculation of your g.p.a, or will they not include it???

As to your GPA question - it really depends on the individual school, but PHARMCAS --> School Info will give you 👍 an estimate of what they will and will not accept.

In reference to your GenChem I "D", well - yes, they will include your "D". Most schools will average your fist attempt with your second, thus you will end up with a 2.5 for Gen Chem. That isn't great - but doing extremely well in Gen Chem II will show that it was just a rough class, rather than a lazy student.

Nothing is ever set in stone. A student may get in with a lower GPA because he had a stellar essay - so go "balls to the wall" on everything from this point out, and doing worry about the bad grades already in the book (I have a "C" in Calc I - I know how you feel) I took Calc II and got an "A" So while its not forgiven - it at least can be explained.

Good luck to ya!!!

Depends on where you apply; some schools will not count the D, and some schools like UIC will count repeats. I think with so much competition in getting into pharm schools these days, a "good" gpa would be a 3.5 or so; however anything above a 3.00 will suffice as long as other parts of your application are strong.

They will most likley average the two grades. Some schools will take the higher but it really depends on the school but if they didnt take the A worse case they would average them but even if they average them its still better than a D 🙂 Good job on the A!!
