TLRs??
Toll-like receptors.
MCG's admissions committee is meeting this week, tomorrow or Friday. Had an interview yesterday and an admissions staff member told our group about it.
How was the interview? Did they give you the impression that you might be reviewed this week?
Any mercer wed calls? I didn't even think about until now...
Is it just me, or do the MCG acceptances seem really "stratified" compared to Mercer? It seems like MCG has had only three or so rounds of MASS acceptances, whereas Mercer accepts two or three people every week? Maybe that was only while I was actively scrutinizing every piece of news I could get my hands on (I haven't heard of any acceptances for some time now.)

Mercer said they were slowing down in the beginning of Feb. They wanted to make sure they had places open for their final interviews.
I interviewed at MCG earlier this week. According to one of the admissions staff, today (Thurs) is there last interview day. Then, counting today, the committee will meet 9 times more to accept/waitlist/deny all the applicants. The director of admissions told our group that the school will accept all 190 slots by the end of this month. So, by April 15th or so, all interviewees should have a letter indicating your status.
As a side note, my first interview went very well (adcom member). However, my second interview was miserable. Evidently, the person originally scheduled had other obligations, so an attending at the hopsital was asked to fill in. He didn't have my file, and he was not happy with the situation. Hopefully, the interview went well enough, but it was over in less than 15 minutes. He kept asking if my file was available from several secretaries/staff members. When they said no, he acted really angry. When I gave him my evaluation sheet/envelope he opened it then wanted to know was that all I had to give him. He was not happy when I said that I had nothing else to offer. He seemed distracted during the interview. He asked me the same question 2-3 times in different ways. Each time I answered, he acted as though he didn't hear the first time. I thought about saying something to the admissions office, but I decided not to. Anyone else faced anything like this at MCG?

okay, I hear people applying to emory, MCG, and mercer,..but what about that other allopathic school? I apologize I don't remember the school's name at this moment 😳
There are quite a few spots available in both Macon and Savannah.
I wish we knew what that meant.. lol
Spoke with Ms. Putnam,
She was very friendly, but can give very little information (as expected). It sounds like there is going to be meetings on both the 19th and 26th of March to determine the final acceptances. There will be a meeting on April 2nd to determine the waitlist. There are quite a few spots available in both Macon and Savannah.
hope this helps

ha ha, I echo your sediments exactly.
MCG interviews are closed file. This person having your file at all would be against university policy.
See they say this, but one of my interviewers knew stuff about me that had to of come from my file, so I'm not entirely sure if the closed/open file stuff is optional or what.
And to medstud2be, I'm not sure if it's mcg or mercer, but one of the schools will let you request another interview if they feel you may have been treated unfairly.
I'm not going to complain. I felt that I did my best, and surely the adcom member interview would be the most important.
When I interviewed at Mercer, we were told there were only 2 spots at Mercer for all 4 years, and about 10 for 2/2 years Macon/Savannah. Of course this probably changed since some people have probably withdrawn for less expensive schools.
I went to check the mail today, and there was a thick, "offical appearing" envelope. For a minute, I thought it was a letter from MCG.
Hahaha! Of course, that would be irrational since I interview there last week.
Ahhhh, I HATE junk mail.

Is the consensus then that if you want to get into MCG these days without having a 4.0 and a 40, you have to apply early decision? Please discuss - would love to hear this cycle's thoughts...

Wow, where did you hear that? I guess I can scratch MCG off my list 🙁
Don't get ahead of yourself. MCG's mcat averages are right at about 30. So that means people get in with above and below that. They don't have a class full of people who got 30 on their mcat.
Just don't get below 29.
This is misleading. I know someone who got in ED this year with a 26, and she was not a URM. Granted, she had a 4.0, but still...If you bring plenty to the table, then a <29 MCAT won't immediately kill your application at MCG.
EDIT: I should probably add a caveat. Your section scores are fairly important too. Someone who makes all 9s on his or her MCAT would have a better shot than someone who went 12-12-6, especially if that 6 was on a science section.
First off, a VR 6 will kill your application MUCH faster than a BS or PS 6.
But you are right about the sub-29 scores. Thing is, the person I was talking to had a 3.6 (as did I); a 26 would not have worked for us.
Otherwise you are right-on. A 9-9-9 with otherwise good credentials has a shot at MCG.
I will be applying to all the GA in-state schools. What out-state schools GA people are applying to? SC right?
