of all that got WL at Mercer & MCG, did you get any OOS interviews? Did you apply OOS?

No, I'm sold on Mercer and will be applying Early Decision if I don't get off the list

I think, by the way, that DO is a great way to go

Yeah, I had a few OOS interviews

You mean their waitlist? Yes, my letter was nice. Told me that they thought I had qualities of a physician and how much they would love to have me at the Mercer Family, and that there was still a chance for acceptance. After saying they loved me, they told me the could now offer advice on how to make my application strong for next year.

Ahhh, I love the lover who gives mixed messages

Guessing this is what everyone got

HAHAHA. That's so funny. Mercer is playing hard to get. Did anybody get s/he is in the waitlist? It's gonna be a long wait. Good luck everyone

It appears that there were a good number of waitlists at Mercer. Has anyone gone about setting up a time to meet with the Dean yet?

I just did, and am wondering if anyone has gone through this process before/can comment on how it works.

If you don't mind my asking, how did your meeting with Dr. Clifton go? This is their 3rd dean of admissions in three years (fourth if you count the interim), but he seems really good. After my first rejection, I met with Dr. Eveland who is now at FSU School of Medicine. My second rejection, met with Dr. Comeau. Fortunately, there wasn't a third time.

Anyway, both of them told me the same things essentially along the line of: "your file is pretty strong, you just need something that sets you apart". I was hoestly kind of disppointed because they didn't give me any information I didn't already know. It's one of those situations where you're like "yeah, I've got a 27 MCAT....could I do better? Sure, but how good is good enough?"

That's why applying is such a crap shoot. Hopefully, it went better for you with Dr. Clifton. He really seems good.

I got an interview at George Washington but Waitlisted there as well.

Got Waitlisted at South Florida and Wake Forest
Got Accepted to Tulane and Emory

Applied to 15 places...would not do that again.

I doubt there will be any news until at least the start of May, middle of May. I really don't expect to hear much else this cylc

Yeah, what is the big withdrawl day, may 15? Probably soon after that would be the next time people start to get news.

thanks, i'm going to go emory, i love the new building plus i'd have waaay too much fun in NOLA

I talked to MCG this week and heard that there has been "some" movement already. But, I think this is typical and was also told that most of the movement comes in May.

🙂

I've heard its pretty hard to get much done in the ATL too... I'd be interested in seeing what NO looks like these days: I bet the campus is fine, but would living in such a city be hard?...

I won't have much big city life distractions to worry about in Augusta (which is probably a good thing for me 👍)

my experience with mcg so far is that they freaking lie their teeths off.

lol lol lol 😀😀 Teethes to spare... you seem to be correct; even those I have heard have been WL have been sparse

Touche, I was down in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl and it looked to be coming along; I was mainly in the french quarter but rode around uptown and in the garden district but the Tulane Med School is actually downtown in an older building, a new highrise which is freakin' sweet, and they got another building donated but I'm not sure what that is going to be used for. It was a tough choice but Grady/the new curriculum/new building and being close to home was too much to pass up.

Just got the Mercer waitlist letter today. Dated 4/7, postmarked 4/10. Somehow it took 8 days to travel to the top of the state.

understandable.

did you feel sorry for the warriors? that review in the 3rd quarter was brutal.

no news has made it harder to locate this thread

FOX should never be allowed to broadcast a college football game ever again, that was unbearably long.

I didn't feel sorry for the players but all the UH fans were very very nice, they weren't the normal SEC crowd but nice nonetheless. I just felt bad they all made such a huge trip down there only to be shown how to play football.

lol, the lowest I've seen our thread is ~page 5, but I didn't even want to know this time. I thought about starting at page four and working back, but I figured someone else would do it eventually.

yeah, my parents went and they said that everyone looked dejected afterward... I can't imagine how much that trip would have cost!

You guys are talking about the Georgia / Hawaii game right?

That was awesome.

Hawaii had no business being there in the first place.

I think that one game dropped Colt Brennan's draft stock by like 244%.

True! I'm staying in the city for med school too. But really bars are bars no matter where they are and I'm starting to get sick of them (Start is the key word) I'm only worried that I'm the only one of my closest friends to not be in undergrad next year and they will only be 10 minutes away! I smell trouble!

Anyone out there on the MCG waitlist apply EDP? I applied EDP and was rolled over because I had to bring up my MCAT and I didn't take it again until Sept. Anyways, I was reading the MCG admissions bulletin and it said something like 140 members of last years class originally applied EDP. I assume that they didn't accept all 140 by Oct. 1 and that many of them got in from the regular pool or off the waitlist. I just wanted to see, by a show of posts, how many of us waitlisters were also EDP applicants.

Me! But I think you already knew that...😍

Hey guys, hope everyone is holding on there. Got a Mercer rejection today. Its funny cause I withdrew, but I guess they had to have the last word. I think I'm going to send them an official rejection of their rejection letter on the grounds I already withdrew.

Fine, but you'll only be hurting yourself. From what I can tell, it is standard for Mercer to send automated rejections of rejection rejections, unless you want to send a rejection of their rejection rejection reject... I've gone cross-eyed.

I have no problems sending in rejections of their rejected rejection. If perhaps the then want to reject that rejected rejected rejection, I would promptly reject their rejected rejected rejected rejection....whew....

I think we can all agree there's been enough rejection this year. Can't we all just get along? 😛

For all those on the MCG waitlist, I just got an acceptance from it so it looks like things are starting to move...about time right? Stay optimistic! I know it's really hard, I, myself, had difficulties doing it.

Join the MCG c/o 2012 facebook group, set up your pulse/groupwise account, and PM/post your dates of interview and waitlist. The 3rd command is optional.

Okay, all of them are optional, but I would stronly advise you to do #2.

Oh, and congratulations. I guess this means others will hear soon?

 And send me $100...I need to buy beer for the weekend 😀

For those of you who are waitlisted at Mercer, has anybody heard?
This uncertainty really sucks. I can't plan out my summer and fall because I don't know what's gonna happen. I am strongly considering the option of EDP to Mercer if I don't get off the waitlist. Who is with me?

Congrats Dr. Sleep!! Do you mind stating whether you had high MCAT/GPA scores and if this was your first time applying or not, so the rest of us know where we stand on the waitlist! thanks!

hey,

Have any of you accepted peeps gotten anything from MCG about financial aid packages or any idea about when they start sending those out if we have already submitted all necessary info like fafsa, mcg fin aid sheets etc. on time.

Thanks!

Haha I like the commands, I fulfilled the first..not sure what the second is yet and the 3rd is: Interviewed Feb. 12 and recieved a waitlist letter when everyone else recieved one about a week ago.

I don't mind at all, I'm a peer-advisor at UF for other pre-meds so anything I can do to help I will! My MCAT was the average and my GPA is a 3.96 overall and 3.93 science; however, extracurriculars do play a big role in where you are on the waitlist so it will be rather difficult to judge. Medical schools don't just look at the numbers. This is my first time applying and I did not apply to MCG as EDP. Anything else you'd like to know just ask!

I was in Hawaii during the game, holding it down for the Dawgs...and Hawaii was actually very spirited about the football game leading up to it, and most people were very nice even after the beating.

Of course I wore UGA stuff every day there...but like I said, everyone was just giving the Dawgs compliments and that we should have played USC in the Rosebowl.

Pulse/groupwise is what you have to do before you can get your email address and submit your financial aid stuff.

Congratulations! Sorry to ask yet another question - but how did they notify you? (phone, email?)

In the waitlist letters MCG said they'd notify you if a seat opens via email or phone and you only have 2 days to accept; however, I received a letter in the mail and it says I have 7 days to accept it. Not sure why it differed from what they said in the waitlist letter...

lazy unorganized mcg yet again 😛

Hopefully they get their stuff together by the time you guys matriculate.

"Oh you mean we sent you an acceptance letter?" Guy at front door looks down at clipboard, "sorry you're not on the list, go stand with all those other guys over there and see if something opens up."

Well a letter is more appealing than a simple email. If anything I feel an email or phone call is being more lazy than taking the time to send a letter; it's more professional and shows better etiquette.

Sure, but it takes longer. Most of us are tired of waiting.

I thought everyone ultimately gets a letter in the mail regardless of whether you were emailed or called....
