Does anyone know anything about the OS residency at gainesville. Any current residents help me out? Thanks.
Two 6 year spots & one 4 year spot available
5 full time faculty members
Definitely Not Malignant attendings are about as far from abusive as you can get
Strongest areas: TMJ and Orthognathic (about 115 orthognathic cases per year) the vast majority of which are double jaw also, a tremendously busy ambulatory GA/IV sedation clinic which runs 5 days a week having the dental school right next door theres tons of 3rds and other dentoalveolar with IV sedation (propofol/ketmaine/versed/fentanyl) every day of the week
Shands became a Level I Trauma center in 2005 and the trauma numbers are still increasing steadily - Trauma call is split evenly (no anatomic restrictions) with ENT and Plastics on a weekly basis (every 3rd week) although by virtue of being in Gainesville its not as busy as some place like New Orleans or Dallas
Lots of benign path but very little malignant path also almost no cosmetics
Cost of living is such that you can definitely afford to buy a house If youre married Gainesville is very safe, if youre single theres close to 45,000 students running around campus. You get a stipend all 6 years (although its reduced the years youre in med school)
Single Biggest Drawback: you have to do year 2 of med school
Yeah...although it's trauma one, i'm sure you get just enough to be satisfied...unlike her in New Orleans, where every 12 yr old has a pea shooter....We could fill our schedule just with trauma for weeks
Dude, whose breasteses are those?
Bro...that's the best part of being a resident....you get the little dentite fem followers who wanna do OMFS
are there any gainesville oms residents on this site? on the outside it seems like a pretty solid program...

It is a good program....its very country club....bread-and butter stuff (with the exceptionof implants)...at least when i was there....the drawback is their scope...no wide scope stuff...No cosmetics, no malignant path, little craniofacial, little trauma (Gainesville is a college town with white-collar crimes....not your typical gun 'n knife club)....it's a great program for private practice....
I am an OMFS wannabe and UF student. Neil McCauley told you everything. Glad to see another fan of Heat.
