Any gamers among fellow burgeoning osteopathic physicians?

If so, what are your favorites?

Please, no "I can't believe you game, you're going to be in medical school and you won't have time for that trash" comments. 😡

Just learned this weekend that the Program Director for our Family Practice program is a hard core gamer. Two Words...Black Ops.

Not a huge gamer, but I do play. Definitely upset that Diablo 3 and The Elder Scrolls 5 are coming out after med school starts 🙁

WoW
Starcraft 2

Probably the last point in my life where I can play these games. :meanie:

Starcraft 2, Left for Dead 2, Rainbow Six Vegas 2

previously Unreal Tournament 2,3 among many others

a dabble in a little bit of everything, Madden, NBA 2ks, Halo, COD

I play a bunch of xbox fps games, and starcraft 2 sometimes (mostly for nostalgia's sake). I'm kinda embarrassed to say that I'm excited for Bulletstorm.

As far as continuing to play games in school, I am planning a major cutback. That's a given I think. I did note, however, that at my KCOM interview the student guides told us that a bunch of guys plugged their xbox into the big tv in the rec room for the Halo:Reach release. I could see some binge video gaming going on when schedules allow.

Black Ops!!

Anybody think they will still play in Med School?

Pissed about that as well, sin.

I have high hopes for D3--I was hopelessly addicted back in the 1.09 LOD days.

Not a hardcore gamer but I play. From what I've heard you obviously won't have all day to play video games, but you'll definitely have time and you definitely should as an outlet for stress. We'll still be able to go out and have fun and have SOME down time, just have to manage our time a bit better.

The gastroenterologist I shadowed says he plays video games for an hour every night. That's probably why he went into gastroenterology, because as we all know, it is essentially a video game except with people...and polyps...and feces.

I'm hardcore into Starcraft 2 at the moment, very sad D3 won't be released before school starts. I feel while in med school I'll binge play games, say after a test for a couple hours. Definitely not a during the weeknight thing, that's time for studying and hanging with fellows osteopaths.

My XBox has been dormant for awhile now (thanks school!) so I haven't tried Black Ops but I really like the modern warfare series.

In a former life before becoming a cop I used to play PC games a lot and even owned a LAN gaming center. I played WoW with some friends for awhile and that was fun - never got big into the "go and slay a dragon" aspect but definitely enjoyed doing player versus player.

Any Counter-Strike players in the bunch? That was my addiction for years. Made pretty good money in high school at it!

I don't think I would play in med school... I don't play while the semesters are in session now so I don't think that would change.

Played all of the age of empires since I was 9 along with starcraft, dabbled in mmorpgs (such as all the everquests, swg, asheron's call I & II) but didn't get serious until wow (over 400 game days played in under 4 years). Enthusiast of halo 1 and 2, semi-pro of halo 3, legend rank in halo;reach as well as onyx rank in team slayer arena. Big fan of the final fantasy series (who isn't) as well as pretty much all the games by bioware (kotor, mass effect, dragon age and looking forward to swtor). Enjoy shadowrun and team fortress every now and then as well as all the great games on the n64 (way too many to even begin listing). I know I've not included a lot of good ones, but there's just sooo many... Anyways, yeah love gaming and definitely wont give it up once school starts, maybe just tone it down a bit...

Nice to see some gamers. I haven't had the chance to play lately but

Reach, Fallout New Vegas, MW2, and NHL 11

Elitist game here. I'm loling at the CoD and EA sports people calling themselves 'gamers'.

I LOVED Bioshock. Just refinished the Mass Effects as I needed a saved game to import for ME3. Really, anything by Bioware is good (apart from Jade Empire) and I hope SW TOR comes out after boards as I'm not sure I can excel in both...

Still, my absolute favorite game has to be Diablo 2. I still find myself firing it up and making weird builds over a decade later. If anyone is on JSP and needs some forum gold, I can loan a bit...

You'll have time to game in school (unless you're interested in being in the 95th percentile or something). However you won't have time for WoW or a major time sink...

Black Ops only...

I'm with you on this one. I keep buying other games, but I never end up playing them, because I only want to play Black Ops... Now I just have to buy 1 game a year... haha.

I am 100% positive that I will still be playing in Med school. Nothing wrong with a couple hours here and there. Plus, it's cheaper than the bar. 😀

Orange Box, UT3, and Quake 3... when I have "time" of course... 😎

Every Asian student in my class played Counter Strike-halflife while at WesternU back in 1999-2002. Only recently started playing Counter-strike Source this year. You'll have time to game while in school. Didnt do much in residency....... Now that I'm a board Certified Anesthesiologist and Partner in a very large group I got time for Black ops, DoD, CS that is when I finish the HONEY-DO list that my attending at home assigns me. (my wife)🙂

Haha. Those lists never seem to end... Especially when they know you're playing video games.

Starcraft II
Counterstrike: Source

My two poisons of choice.

lulz

My time spent on WoW has been on a steady decline... I guess I'm just losing interest after 5 years of playing. Lately it's been Black Ops on PS3 and old Final Fantasy games. I also dug out the N64 a few days ago for some throwback Goldeneye action. I'm a 00 Agent in my spare time....

You checked out the goldeneye: source mod?

It's pretty legit.

this thread is so win...

play sc2 atm, and plan to play d3 for sure (no matter when it comes out)

After matriculating, Ill probably still play games just not as much.

ne1 follow gsl by any chance?

Black Ops told me the other day that I've logged 80 hours of playtime. I felt a mixture of pride and shame. lol

For the ultimate in 'forever alone' moments, check your Xfire hour totals if you're a PC gamer.

No bueno. 🙁

I love COD. Recently just played one of the best games of my life on Black Ops. Went 50 to 1 for KD. It was amazing. Definitely going in my file share.

I've logged 501 games of Reach, which if we assume are 10 minutes a piece is about 80 hours. For Halo 3 I have 4,340 games logged 😱. Yeah I see a precipitous decline post matriculation.

Melee>>>Brawl>original?

Is this correct y/n??? 😀

Any wii owners? I was looking to maybe get one, but I'm not sure if there's enough in the way of games out there to make it worthwhile.

I've been through a semester now and have found some time to play Black Ops. I play w/ a couple guys at my med school and the MD school a couple hours away. We have fun once that guilty time-wasting feeling creeps out of our minds. Seriously, med school makes it hard to relax! I constantly feel like I need to get back to the books. The weekends are great though, its nice to take a break and only study for 10 hours in the day 🙂
