Hi everyone
I just received an invitation to interview from Gannon University Ruskin campus. I am wondering did anyone receive the same thing? I am just so nervous about interview. Can any of you provide me some tips on how to prepare for the interview?

Thank you in advance

Did they email you for an interview? I know Gannon Erie doesn't do in person interviews, which is shocking to me that Ruskin does interviews.

They mailed me invitation letter. I believe the email will come in soon. Same here. I am surprised that Erie doesn`t conduct interview.

Hopefully I will hear from Ruskin. I have been in talks with Erie, but for some reason Ruskin isn't very good at communication through email. It is the only form of communication I have since I am stationed in Japan.

I am not surprised with that. I did not even receive confirmation email after I submitted my application. The interview letter is my first time hear from them.

I just received the letter as well. I sent them an email RSVPing a spot during the afternoon session. Maybe I'll see you there!

I am attending the morning session unfortunately. BTW How you prepare for it?

Hey I actually am waiting for the invitation letter for Gannon University Ruskin. Hopefully when I get back from work that the letter is waiting for me in the mailbox! By any chance you guys mind sharing your stats?

My stats are'nt amazing, I would say my strength comes from a strong personal statement and letters of rec. I have a 3.57 Overall, 3.63 Upper, 3.5~ Prereq in addition to a 154Q/V and 4.0AW.

As for how I'm preparing, I'm just going over commonly asked questions and really thinking about how I'm going to answer them!

Hiii
I also got an interview invite for Ruskin October 28th! I'm trying to book a flight since I'm from NYC

I was really interested in this university, especially because they don't require the GRE, and was about to apply the other day but realized they are not accredited. From what I understand, if the university does not earn accreditation before we graduate (or before we start?) we're unable to sit for the the licensure exam. Is this true? May I ask what the benefits are in applying and potentially going to a non-accredited school?

That appears to only be for the PA campus, not their Ruskin location. On their Ruskin DPT page it says:

"Effective November 23, 2016, the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Gannon University, Ruskin Campus has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education ...... Candidate for Accreditation is a pre-accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates that the program is progressing toward accreditation and may matriculate students in the technical/professional courses. Candidate for Accreditation is not an accreditation status nor does it assure eventual accreditation".

I'm unable to share a link but that can be found on their official website on the page specific to the Ruskin campus. Left hand side says 'Accreditation' that you can click to show that text.

Also, APTA doesn't have the Ruskin, FL location listed as an accredited school. Can anyone else confirm if they also see what I'm seeing? I'd love to apply if I'm wrong.

Has anyone received the email they said they were sending out shortly?

No, I'm still waiting. Is anyone flying in? I was thinking to carpool with anyone going from the Tampa international airport to the campus. Let me know!!!

I'm not sure if someone already mentioned this but...be careful with that area. It got hit by the recent hurricane and funds are currently being raised for relief. I applied there but ended up going to the PA campus. It felt a little like fate, dodging that bullet. Just saying that hurricanes will be a very real thing you'll have to deal with if you go there.

Did anyone hear back from Ruskin? It's been a month since the October 28th interview date. From what I remember they said that we will be hearing from them in a month..... nothing yet

Hi everyone,
I have an interview at Gannon, Ruskin campus in January. Anyone heard of any rejections/waitlists/acceptance yet? How was the interview? How should I prepare? Also, how did you like the school?

Hey, congrats on the interview!

I interviewed in late October and received acceptance in late November.

So far it is the only school I’ve been accepted to, but have been waitlisted by a few others.

The interview was a 2 on 1 (Student & Professor + you) and was pretty traditional. Questions like - Why you want to go to the school, why you want to do PT, etc... it seemed more like a get to know you set up, rather than trying to “test” you. You are split into two groups, and one group interviews while the other tours.

It’s a very small campus but has nice lecture and lab space. You’ll get a good feel from the tour. They’re also currently expanding and have plans of future expansion as well.

I enjoyed the small school feel, everyone seemed tight knit and I felt confident in the space and faculty. You’ll also have a chance to ask current students any questions you have!

Thank you so much for your response and congrats on your acceptance! I am Wait Listed at Thomas Jefferson so far but I have a few interviews coming up. Do you mind sharing your stats? I have a 3.73 cumulative and 3.875 in Gannon's pre-requisites. ~400 volunteer hours split between 3 outpatient clinics, one inpatient, hippo therapy, and 800+ hours as a tech. Is Gannon your top choice? About how many questions did they ask?

You’re welcome! I have a 3.51 cumulative and a 3.73 prereq. I have 200 volunteer hours in and outpatient and about 300 hours as a tech. I have a lot of extra curriculars and 4 strong LOR. I had a great interview and meshed well with both the professor and student. It’s a 30 min interview and we got through about 6 questions. They had more but we didn’t have time. It was much more conversational rather than trying to get through questions! There are a lot of schools I’m interested in (along with Gannon) and waiting to hear back from, but so far Gannon is my only seat, so it’s at the top of the list. I hope all of this helps!

yes, you are being quite helpful. I really appreciate it. 🙂 You have great stats!! What extra curriculars do you have that you think made you stand out? That sounds like a very laid back and fun interview! Did they ask any questions that you didn't really know how to respond to?

Things like student/athlete, personal/group training, international volunteering. None of the questions were tricky at all, unlike some of the other schools I’ve interviewed at!

awesome! were you at the January 13th interview!? will you be accepting the offer?
Haha, I was! I was at the afternoon session, what about you? I was accepted at another university but I feel Gannon may be a better fit for me. Are you going to accept the offer?

Oh nice! I was at the morning session. I have 4 offers right now so I am trying to decide. I really enjoyed my interview day at Gannon! Who did you interview with?

Sweet, congratulations! I interviewed with Dr. Love. I was already comfortable being interviewed by him since we spoke prior to the class presentation. There were no curve balls, but genuine questions on getting to know you as a person. What did you think as your overall experience when you visited the campus?

I feel like Gannon has a nice family vibe! Which is important. Dr. Love is awesome! I interviewed with Dr. Conrad. I talked to him about my passion for running and apparently he runs marathons so I feel like we were really able to connect on that. I also liked the facility and how the day was conducted.

There's definitely a nice family vibe there. That's nice to hear, it's always a great feel when you find a base! It was the same with Dr. Love and I where we talked about our passion in education and facing background/cultural restrictions in education from third world countries. I spoke with Mr. and Mrs. Conrad monetarily and both were great! I agree with you, it was lax as compared to the other universities I've encountered. Are you from Florida or around the east coast?

I am not from Florida or the east coast actually. I am from Arizona. What about you? 🙂

Hey guys. I was also accepted at 4 schools and waitlisted at 3. I will be going to Gannon because it is in Florida. We should create a facebook page.

Anyone get an interview with Gannon University Ruskin yesterday and plan to attend if gotten accepted?

I went to the interview that day. They said that we'd get our decisions by this week so I'm constantly checking my email in hopes to hear back. I REALLY liked the school and their learning outcomes a lot so I would submit my deposit asap

Hi can you pls tell me what type of questions you were asked at the interview

Some questions I was asked were

Why did you pick physical therapy
Why didn't you pick athletic training instead of physical therapy (Because I had mentioned I wanted to work in the area of sports)
What is integrity to you
Why did you choose Gannon
What do you hope to gain in the 3 years you spend in this program.
