Gap in EC activities?

Out of curiosity, what constitutes a gap in the activities and experiences section? I.e. how long must the gap be for me to have to put in two different time frames instead of a continuous activity? Thanks

Many will add a second timeframe if they take the summer off or greater than a two-month break. Alternatively one can name the activity something that suggests it's only during the school year, or that it's intermittent, and then use one longer timeframe.
