What are some ideas to do in the gap year? I've done enough research to bolster my app for the residency What are some productive beneficial ideas to think about that is not stressful during the year off (that doesn't involve intensive benchside research, grad school, or travel)?

A gap year should generally be to further your application or do something interesting/productive like a fulbright scholarship/master's degree. I've never heard of anyone taking a gap year (and not a leave of absence) to do anything besides research/fulbright/master's.
Actually, I take that back. One of my friends did a gap year and was going to do a master's, but postponed it and turned it into a LoA to alleviate burnout.
