Gap Year Suggestions

Hey guys, so I plan on taking a gap year while applying this cycle (2015-2016). I already plan on shadowing, volunteering, and applying to scribe positions. I wanted something different. I have read on this forum of people shadowing overseas or being a part of some really cool programs for research and such. I was just wondering if anyone knew of an opportunity I might pursue or ways to find such opportunities. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks guys and good luck to everyone, applicant or student!
