This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
congrats dentp on getting the test done! just wondering if you wouldn't mind posting some info on how you found the test.. like what materials you found helped most to address the content and what materials you didnt like and perhaps how well the questions approximated in difficulty to bot the recent and older (late 90's) released exams? maybe what you thought was the hardest on the test and what was easier

Thanks!

yep there are a lot of "common sense" type questions that you cannot really prepare for.

I totally agree with dentp and ibeflossin, its not as tough as people say and also for the 'common sense' content! One more thing that will determine your score is 'Silly mistakes'. You end up doing more silly mistakes than you ever realize!

completely agree! most of the "tricky questions" you end up making up in your head by over-thinking things. it's easy to read questions quickly and carelessly because you are stressed and nervous. just relax and take a breather now and then so you don't over analyze simple questions or accidentally click wrong answers 🙂

difficulty level of real exam is same as or may be low as compared to 2004 pilot exam. I am not trying to encourage people just for my sake, but this is reality. In my view, decks is one of the most horrible book I read. I have read it only once just bcoz people are telling. I think I can judge person's knowledge by just asking a single question?

" do u like dental decks? " if he says yes then I can definitely say that that person has not sufficient knowledge. He may get 95 percentile but definitely he will not really able to score in exam if it is really hard and standard.

so those people who knows the subject need not to be worry. there is no single standard book.

Here are some of my opinions:

1. NBDE is getting more and more difficult. You can see this trend from the old ASDA papers. The latter the more difficult. A good score from an old ASDA won't guarantee you to shot a high score in recent computer exams.

2. The NBDE question pool is getting bigger and bigger each year. There are many repeated questions in the old ASDA exam papers. You will see few repeated questions in the computer exam nowadays.

3. It is easier to get all kinds of information and study material nowadays. You can buy decks from ebay, textbooks from amazon and even e-books from internet. You can easily download an anatomic picture from internet. You can find a lot of information on wikipedia. You can ask your questions on internet forums like sdn website. This makes NBDE very competitive now. You may notice that it is not difficult to pass the exam (75), but it is very challenging to score high (above 90).

Current ADA policy will only give you one chance to score high (assume there is no problem for you to pass). So study hard and prepare well before you sit in front of the computer monitor and start your NBDE.

I do not agree with happyk9 with the statement that NBDE is getting harder and harder. in one sentence, if u really understand the subject NBDE is very very easy. Only those who do not understand the subject will feel that exam is difficult.

You sound very confident. Good for you. Probably you can give us more tips after you get your score.

If you feel decks are horrible, do you suggest any better material ?
