has anyone or does anyone know of somebody that has given up on pharmacy altogether after being rejected soo many times. I applied twice and was rejected...totalling over 10 schools in 2 years. I have yet to get my degree but I am afraid my Cs, Ds, and Fs in prereqs will prevent me from getting in no matter what. Even if I retake some classes I don't know if I can ace it the second time around. My GPA is like 3.00.

You just need to keep trying and never give up if you really want to do pharmacy!! Now, I really think you should retake some classes..The ones you have Ds and Fs in you will surely have to retake them, no matter what, because otherwise schools will not even bother considering you because these are bad grades for pre-requisites, compared to other applicants who have As and Bs. Some schools, don't care if you have couple of Cs, as long as you can verify why...etc.
I guess my point is, retake the classes where u got bad grades, get pharmacy experience, try to get a bachelors degree, and then apply again..and hopefully schools will consider you improvement, and yeah of course, try to score as high as you in can in the PCAT.
Best of luck to you!:luck:

Hey man don't get down. Anything is truly possible. Apply earlier next year if you don't get in this year and to schools with rolling admissions. Get some experience in a pharmacy. Work on getting those prereqs up just a little bit and most importantly don't give up because, it shows desire and determination. For instance, I applied to 12 schools this year. It's embarassing to say but I did. Im not going to bore you with details but I hurt myself terribly bad playing sports in college and to make a long story short the doctor said I needed surgery and may not ever recovery full function of my legs again. A year later i have most of the function in my right leg back and over 50 % in my left leg. Every school I interviewed at I told this story. Some didn't like it and rejected me. However, I got into the 2 schools I really wanted to. I know this is a long boring story but my point is if you dont give up good things will eventually happen no matter how bad your situation is.

hey,

I know how you are feeling. I applied to pharmacy school 4 times, and on this last time I finally got in somewhere. The mistakes I made when I applied before was that I did not apply to enough schools. I applied to 14 schools this year. I also applied in August. Applying early makes a world of difference. Research the schools and their stats before u apply. Also I got work experience and my degree and I retook classes. All of those do help, esp work experience. Get certified that will help too. Do retake the classes you did bad in , even if it is a C. Get rec letters from pharmacists. Also with every supplemental application I mailed a separate non-required essay about why I thought I was a qualified pharmacy applicant. I did that so I would stand out and it would show how determined I was. Do not give up if this is what you really want..your not alone...many people have been in your shoes. Good Luck

I gave up after my 1st year of being rejected. I moved back home and got a job with no intentions of going back to school. It was a blessing in disguise because I was always curious about using my Economics major to work in finance. If I got in right away, I would always think "What if?" A few of my buddies got pretty cool jobs and starting raking in "adult money." I wanted to see what it was like being an adult at a real career job.

But after a year of working, I knew pharmacy was for me. Nothing in business/finance interested me so I applied to 2 schools for fun knowing I wouldn't get in. I then quit, went back to school full time to retake a few classes and take on some upper-div science courses. I also got a job as a pharmacy clerk for experience and made sure to apply extra early. This year, I got into one school and wait listed at another.

That's why I made my thread in the sig b/c I want others to know if you TRULY want to be a pharmacist, it will happen if you put in the work. Also if you know a few tips, your chances will exponentially go up. Good luck.

cyta if u get low gpa get 97-100 on pcat u will surely get in. if you get 97-100 on pcat tell em i sent ya.

Don't give up on pharmacy if you're passionate about the field.

I would recommend retaking some of the pre-reqs before you apply again. Think from the admission committee perspective to see which area you need to improve on. Volunteer at a pharmacy if you haven't during this year.

Good luck!

Don't give up. I know it's very discouraging, but if you know that this is something you really want, keep working towards it. If you think about the big picture, another year preparing to get into pharmacy out of your whole life isn't much at all.
This is my second time applying. My first time, I didnt get a single interview invite, and I applied to a LOT of schools. I spent a year working at a pharmacy, volunteering and retaking courses. My GPA was slightly below a 3.0 and not its only slightly above a 3.0.
I retook my PCATS, applied early and I got interviews to half the schools I applied to! I had 7 interviews and got accepted to 4 already, 1 on alternate list, and waiting for 2 more. 2 of the schools I got into were even on the top 10! So don't give up! It can happen to you!

Apply early!

sometimes you have to know when to hold em and no when to fold em!

have you thought about another field? I actually apply to both opt and pharm this year...althought i stuck with pharm, i think opt is a great field...to me the OAT was way easier than the PCAT...you should consider it!!!

I say never give up. If it is something you want to do then go for it. just retake some of your courses, try to get your GPA up, and get some pharmacy experience. It is also my second time applying and I have not been admitted to any school yet. I plan to apply again if I need to (but hope I don't have to). So my point is: if you are passinate about the field don't give up anythinkg is possible.
