Hey all. I'm preparing for the MCAT in a couple of weeks and just thought about the movie, Meet the Parents. Ben Stiller got a 90th percentile on the MCAT's... what does that translate into... a 40??

probably not that high...maybe 35-37

i think it depends on each testing period. but if i remember, a 34 was about 92 percentile for when i took it.
hope that helps

yeah i think a 34 was between 89-93%

No it would be like a 33. I got a 35 and it was in the 94th-96th percentile. If you're really interested you could find out for sure by looking through the MCAT statistics on aamc.org.

As of April 04, scoring a 33 put one in the 88.3 - 91.5 percentile. See attached chart, and scroll to page 2.

if i may--

you can pause the movie and see his exact score, if i recall correctly its a 42 or a 43, so i think he was in the 99th percentile. feel free to check on this but i am 100% sure it's over a 40, because i remember thinking how absurd it was.

Yeah, he was 97th percentile, that translates to about 37. However, in the DVD, if you zoom in on the fax of his score report, it apparently is some 40+ score.

Come on people, it's been ten minutes already, where are the screen captures?! This is important stuff here! 😉

gaylord got a 97th percentile...i remember seeing the prop that they used on the actual movie set (the fax printout) being sold on ebay; in fine print, his score was a 36!

his score is: 14, 13, R, 15 on the score report, that's the official word. gaylord musta taken princeton review AND kaplan.

someone is always selling gaylord focker's mcat score report on there.

in Meet the Parents they refer to the mcat as "the MCATs" and it is annoying. I saw an ad for "Meet the Fockers" last night...should be good.

You bump an active thread just to bitch about it? What a *****.

Ah, but when did he take the MCAT and when did they redo the test where 45 is tops and a 37 is the 97th percentile. I believe it was quite different before the early 90's.

Although pre-90's would be pushing his age. lets say 90 he was 21 and took the MCAT, so he would be ~30 in 99. Actually that is not that unrealistic at all seeing that he is more like mid 30's in the movie (guess).
So, he must have taken the previous version of the MCAT where a 42 was not quite what a 42 is now!

The movie has not lost its believablity. The world can go on.

But in that case his verbal score should've been like 13-15 instead, right?

I can't believe we're arguing about Gaylord Focker's MCAT score.

The test date was April 1989.
His DOB, based on the Fax is 4/11/58 (or 59)(area out of focus)

check out the shipping... $6 for a piece of paper... could easily be put in a silly padded manilla envelope ($.19) with a $.37 stamp or 2... or freaking fax it for $.15 of long distance fees...
