find the pH of a 0.040 M NaCN solution. Given: K(a) of HCN is 5.0 x 10^(-10)
a)11
b)8.7
c)5.3
d)12
e)3.4

i got this sH1t wrong 3 times...

some1 help me 😡

try this:

0.04 will ionize to give 0.04M of HCN

(H+)(CN-): HCN=5.0 x 10 (-10)
(H+)(CN-): 0.04=5.0 x 10(-10)
=20 x 10(-12)

(H+) =square root of ((20 x 10 (-12)
solve for H and convert to pH
