Just did one round of DAT destroyer gen chem problems.... and I feel like I haven't studied or learned anything. Any advice on how to tackle? I've watched Chad's Videos and took extensive notes, but I feel like I am missing major concepts when it comes time to calculate problems--- note I was never strong in gen chem, but I thought I gave myself a fairly good new foundation for it.

Also does anyone have a compiled list of equations that should be memorized for the DAT

Thanks

The questions in DAT Destroyer are a collection of some of the most challenging questions possible. You're supposed to miss many but you'll learn from it. I was getting about 60% of the questions correct when I went through it (and I went through it just once) and I still managed to score a 26 yesterday. My suggestion would be to review each problem thoroughly and take notes of whatever you were not sure of or you simply did not know. Few days before your exam go over these notes and the ones from Chad's and you'll be set to get an awesome score.

Also I do not have a compiled list of formulas but again all the equations you need to know will either be in Chad's or destroyer. And don't worry how well you do in destroyer the first time through. It is not an indicator of your score comes the test day.

How were the calculation problems? Anything felt weird or was it all pretty close to chads? Sounds like LinaT and I both have similar issues with calculations

I would say it was very close to Chad's conceptually and easier mathematically. Honestly I think it's possible to do most of the calculations in your head, much more straightforward than any resource I used to prepare. If you have the theory down cold you'll be more than capable to score superb.

As you go through Destroyer, make sure you look into solutions of the problems that you could not solve correctly. That will tell you which concepts you are weak on. You might want to look back into your chem textbook and review those concepts/equations - then try problems again.

Honestly , I think you'll be fine just knowing chad's, but make sure you really think about what he says, not just mindlessly write thingss down . I literally remmebered nothing from Gen chem, which was one of my lowest grades in college. Chad built me from the bottom up (watched about 3x, took own notes, quizes few times, fast played in 1 day four days before test), and ultimately GC was my highest score on the real test.

I thought mathematically they were harder, they way some of the conceptual questions were asked were pretty tricky IMO. When I did the quiz at the end of every section for Chad's videos I was getting almost everything right. @TD21 your completely right, I think I need to re-watch and just really make sure I understand everything conceptually.

In undergrad we were always allowed a cheat sheet so we never had to memorize equations which might be another reason that's making this a little tricky for me... I guess I just need to memorize all of them.

Forever haunted by gen chem -_-
