If k is related to both temperature and activation energy via the Arrhenious equation, then why is it that k can only be effected by temperature change according to Dr. Romano?

Someone please explain?

You're mixing up Keq (equilibrium) and k (rate constant). Lowering or increasing the activation energy using a catalyst and changing the temperature both can affect the rate constant of a reaction. However, only temperature can affect the Keq of a reaction.

wait, did you mean that temp can effect both but catalyst can only effect rate constant?

Yeah temp affects both. And catalyst affects the rate constant (as well as mechanism and activation energy of the reaction).
