hey all, im gonna be taking my DAT in like 1.5 months and the only section im worried about is the general chemistry. i was never good at it but i dont have time to sift through the whole textbook. are any guides to general chemistry? will reading the kaplan teach me much if my genchem is fairly weak or will it be good enough for a decent score, around 19 +/-2 in that section?

i suck at gen chem as well and I read through the entire kaplan book on gen chem and none of it was really helping me. The only way I improved on gen chem is actually doing problems. You end up doing so many problems that you automatically know what to do by the type of question. It is a lot like studying for math. Hope this works for you to

yeah like the guy above, the real dat's questions on gchem were really much similiar to kaplan

If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the predent page or this page there is a dropdown window. If you choose DAT discussion there is a ton of info on how to get your mojo runnin' for the DAT. Good discussions on specific problems people are trying to figure out and great advice generally. I agree that the Kaplan white book is pretty good for gchem.

I bought the Kaplan book two weeks before my DAT and only studied about a week off and on. I thought the Kaplan practice test on CD and the review were a great way to brush up. Good Luck
