In Destroyer #68, it says 1L aqueous solution contains 18 g of X and 3.2g of Y and it asks for mole fraction of X.

When it says the solution contains X and Y, doesn't that mean aqueous solution +X +Y = 1L?

I read the solution and what it did was adding L of X and Y to 1L.

Does this mean the word "contains" is different from "includes?"

You are reading more into the problem than is actually there. There is nothing wrong with the way the problem is stated although there may be a question on the answer given.

i dont have my destroyer book on me at the moment but you should prob post the exact wording of both the question and answer. youve paraphrased them which takes them out of context.

ps - youre probably right, destroyer is very bad about wording in some of the probs.
