Hi SDNers,

Haven't gotten a definitive answer to this question. General Botany.. can it be used as part of 1 year General Biology requirement? Seems like most dental school will accept any Freshman biology class with lab with the exception of UCLA/USC/UCSF.

One more question... as far as I know General Zoology fulfills the requirement based on what I see on the DS websites, but my school doesn't offer Zoology this upcoming semester so I plan to take the class at neighbor school (1.5 hrs away) over Botany that's being offered at my school. (tentative plan is to take botany this semester and have zoology as 'planned/IP' course on the application)

Is it worth to drive that long distance to take Zoology? I don't see a lot of benefits of taking zoology over botany if I can study on my own DAT portion of it.

What do you think?

Do you not have regular general biology at your school? I took those and then I was required to take zoology and botany for my bio sci major. I'm sure you will have more biology: cell, genetics, micro to take also. I would take those over botany and zoo if you don't need them.

we don't have general bio series, instead

Biological Principal + Botany + Zoology

make up the first year biology requirement. But I feel like I don't need all three if I just need two semesters of Biology classes. THAT was my original question.
