So, my second semester in college and I'm taking general chemistry. I'm doing poorly right now 100/200 (50%) I'm thinking about dropping it. My highest grade I can get is a low B if I get 100s in the next 2 test and plus final, I don't want my gpa to go down. One of the things that might be affecting me is that I have to wake up 5:30 am and go to the other college campus(my college has 3 campus locations). I've been thinking about taking it this summer but what I heard people say, "it's hell" and etc makes me think twice. Should I drop it and take it in the summer? Sorry if this question doesn't belong here, I'm still getting used to the website!!

I'd say drop it, I doubt you're getting 100s on the next 3 exams if the past is any indication.

Well if you do drop it, don't get in a habit of dropping everything.

If you drop it, how many credits will you have left?
What is your science gpa and cumulative gpa?
And what is your major?

Don't drop it. The answer is to finish strong and show medical school you know how to recuperate. B now is MUCH better than a "Drop." It'll be even more amazing if you can show positive progress aka improve grades moving forward.

Plus general chemistry is just the start. You can definitely make changes. Best of luck!

A B would be better than a drop, but you're saying you need perfection from here on out to get a B. To me, that means you can't get a B. If you have a 50% so far, what makes you think you can start getting flawless 100's? Just trying to be realistic.

Agreed with above. If you've been getting 50's, why have you not made an active effort to study hard and perform better? Travelling to a separate campus shouldn't be an excuse. I hope you turn things around because Gen chem is the very start (Orgo/biochem are the real killers). If you don't think you can finish strong this semester I would drop it. Take it during the summer and don't listen to others if you can motivate yourself to study hard in the summer and do well.

Don't worry I don't plan on dropping anything else. I believe I'll have 12 credits so it's still plenty in a way. My major is biomedical science.

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind.

Thank you. I'll be trying to go strong. I've been understanding it lately the gas phases and thermochemistry, I really enjoy those subjects. I've purchased books online to better understand it and even used the MCAT general chemistry book which helped a lot in my understanding.
