I was wondering if someone could tell me what GPA and NBDE scores are generally considered to competitive to be accepted into an OMFS program?

Generally, OMFS is a competitive specialty to obtain, though less so than ortho or endo. Most applicants have NBDE Part I > 90. It is more difficult to specify an exact GPA, as it is the class rank that counts. Most successful applicants are in the top 10%.

For 6-year programs (those that integrate the MD degree), some are more stringent about having a high (>90) NBDE Part I score. There was a study completed a number of years ago that showed that performance on NBDE is associated with performance on USMLE Step 1.

Class rank is more relevant that GPA because it's easier to compare. There are many schools where nobody gets an 'A' in many courses. The #1 guy in my class only had a 3.8 GPA, while I know other schools had 1 or more people with a 4.0.

That is unless you go to a school with no grades and no rank.😉
