OVERVIEW: Dual accreditation from AOA/ACGME at a community based academic center with 8 residencies and 5 fellowships. 50 bed ER with 2 resuscitation bays and 2 Trauma Bays. ~ 70,000 visits/year, Level II trauma. Peds ER and Trauma Rotation at Hurley--level I hospital in Flint. PICU at Beaumont. 4 year program with emphasis on leadership development.

Pros: Lots of medically sick elderly people from the surrounding old folks homes. 1:1 faculty to resident ratio for part of the day, 1:2 for the rest. Good place for resident wellness--duty hours violations are respected by faculty. Great didactics. Rosh, EMsono, provided. Trauma at Hurley, which is located the one of America's most dangerous cities--Flint. All rotating students will get a SLOE.

Cons: Convoluted process of admissions--you have to call different people depending on the patient's PCP. 4 year program (turn off for some allopathic students). More rural area of MI--hour north of Detroit. Most traumas are lower acuity blunt mechanism. Trauma procedures at GRMC are shared with GenSx service
