I see that double crossovers is one of the AAMC MCAT topics that we need to know about (under Meiosis and Genetic Variability). What exactly do we need to know about this topic? It seems that neither EK or TPR review cover it. Thanks in advance!

Just know that it contributes to the genetic variability of the gametes; its the reason why offsprings are not exactly like their parents. Know that it can only occur between homologous pairs and not between sister chromatids. It occurs during Prophase of Meiosis I, where the chromosomes are in the tetrad state.
