Genetics MFM private practice

Hey, I was wondering if doing an MFM/Genetics combined fellowship after an obgyn residency would work out in a private practice
Would you do any genetics cases or would it all be related to obstetrics?
I want my practice to be mostly obstetrics(MFM) but genetics have some relation to MFM.

To what end? If you're going to do a private practice, you probably don't need a genetics fellowship as you'll probably hire a genetics counselor anyway. if you wanted to do genetics research, it would make sense, but otherwise, why do you think you need to do both?

Idk it just seems like it would save money (I know money isn't the reason for choosing a specialty) but you're right. blond moment

I'd recommend completing the combined program only if you have a special interest in genetics (clinical and/or research). Otherwise, 1) you'll either have a genetic counselor at your private practice (which saves you much time in counseling patients, following up results, calling back patients/providers) and 2) will be trained to handle the most common genetic disorders yourself without the need for the additional genetics training. In the latter, you can always refer the more difficult cases to the closest larger center.
