Could someone help explain to me what c means in genetics - in reference to mass....if you could use an example and go through mitosis that would be ridiculously awesome.
As well, once a cell has undergone meiosis 1 is it considered haploid? It has only 23 chromosomes but 46 chromatids??? Maybe tie that into the example of c.....
THANKS!

the answer to your second question is that the cells would have 23 chromosomes a piece and each chromosome has two sister chromatids so 23 times 2 gives u 46 total chromatids but only 23 chromosomes hope that helps. If my explanation was wrong someone please correct me.

c refers to the number of dna copies. DNA replicates it DNA to 4c while still being 2n. N refers to the number of centromeres.
