Well, decision time is coming up soon, and I could use some help from any GUSOM students out there. 🙂

Are there any/many older students at Georgetown? Another school I'm considering seems to be well-populated with non-trads, to the point where Match Day photos always seem to have kids in them. I get the impression that GU has a much younger student population, but I really want to hear from an actual student.

We have young and old. Definitely majority are younger kids, but since we have a big class we have a lot of everything. The older people I know are some of the coolest people in the class.

I know that housing at GU has been covered in other forums, but nobody really has answered questions about roomates at GU. Do most first/second year students live in houses with roomates or in apartments (although I know that these would really only be on Wisconsin Ave or in VA)? Do most students study in the library or at home?

Most of the people I know live with roomates, I lived in a 1br apartment alone which was nice not having to share anything. There are apartments all over georgetown, not just on wisconsin. FOxhall and glover park are a long walk but some people live there too. THey are much closer than Roslyn/Dupont Circle which both have metro access. Many students live in houses in foxhall that they share. This is fine if you want to live minimally. Or some share apartments in roslyn or georgetown, and some like me live with other people, who are not students. Basements or 1brs in georgetown go for 1200/month. Sharing a house kids pay usually 800/month. Sharing a house outside of the city would be like 700.

The decision you have to make about housing is do you want to live in georgetown for convenienve or save money and commute. Living alone or sharing is possible in either scenario. If you are really interested you should come to campus and see the adds posted on the bulletin boards, they are the best sources of real estate I have seen.

Do people study in teh library? Yeah. I dont, but a lot of people do. Id say most people do not study in the library, just because tehre are so many other places to study, ie the student center or undergrad buildings.

I'm a first year and I think the oldest student in our class is 30 or 31, so yes, a pretty young crowd. I know last year over the summer the admissions department ran a sort of personals email list for people with rooms for rent. Typically most people rent rooms in houses together or there are apartments up on wisconsin or in foxhall.

I'm a library studier... there or at the student union. The library is open 24 hours a day which is nice but it's also a bit of a dive. Then again, how nice do you need a place to be when you got your nose in Netter all day.

Which bulletin boards are you talking about? Any in particular? I'll be on campus soon and will definitely check that out.

Go like you are trying to go into the emergency room of the hospital, but instead bear right up a ramp into the med school. RIght as you walk through that door there are bulletin boards full of ads.
