Hey guys,
I have not seen any type of thread regarding the regular physiology program at Georgetown. I was just accepted yesterday and I will be attending next year. I really would love to hear about the program from current or previous students, to get an idea of what day to day life is. Please feel free to PM me or to comment below.

For those curious, I will provide what my stats look like.
-3.47 (this will be above a 3.5 come May)
-I have not taken the MCAT, as this program does not require test scores
-Surgical Assistant, ER scribe, and Pathology Intern
-I presented research at a conference last spring about electrochemistry and I am conducting validation protocol in the pathology department at the hostpital I intern.
-Multiple E-board positions in student organizations
-My weakest points by far was my community service; I have a decent amount of things I have done, accumulating roughly 80 hours

I look forward to hearing about your experiences!

Hi guys,

I am also applying to this program. I actually just submitted my application today but without the recommendation letters. How long did it take for you to hear back from them after submitting your application?

I applied end of January and heard back by the third week of February. However, with it being in April, there will be a large influx of applications. so it could take up to a month. If you have any questions, I would be happy to help. I have talked in depth with the program coordinator, sat in on a class, and talked to students about it.

So do you know how competitive this program is? I can't find anything about how many applicants they normally receive nor an acceptance rate.

They have not provided an acceptance rate, but I believe the goal number is 30-40. From what I understand, they only accept you if they believe you can be accepted into medical school.

Do you know what the odds are for students who have been waitlisted? I applied end of March, heard back a week ago and was told that I have been placed on the waitlist :dead:

These are my stats:
- GPA: 3.55 (hopefully it will be a little bit higher at the end of this semester but I am not too hopeful)
- Took the GREs but they weren't very good so I didn't submit it. Didn't take the MCAT because it wasn't required for the program.
- Have done research since my sophomore year (Spans from organic chemistry to translational research using Math to research in microbiology on prosthetic joint infections) and presented at two research symposiums.
- Interned at a private label cosmetic company and worked as a pharmacist assistant some years back.
- Have been volunteering at a couple hospitals locally and overseas since high school.
- Was not too involved in school activities besides being involved in Greek Life 😛

I do not know the odds of students who have been waitlisted. There is a specific date we must accept by, so some students may drop. I know of one accepted student who just interviewed at medical school and is waiting to hear back.
I would get in contact with the program coordinator Katie Helgeson. She is incredibly helpful and will give you the answers you need. Do not be afraid to arrange a phone call with her!

Has anyone who has been waitlisted heard anything back from them recently?
