Hey, everybody. Sorry for bringing up another recent thread about G'town, but I was just wondering if there are any G'town residents, medical students or outside rotators who could tell me a little bit about the program. The most recent thread and the search function were not very helpful in terms of specifics. And as most of you already know, their website is very outdated.

I'm really interested in the program and the DC/Maryland area in general, so please feel free to post any info if you have any solid info about this program. Also, please feel free to PM me if you'd like. Thanks. 🙂 And good luck to everybody applying this year!

Well, I just graduated from Georgetown in May, but decided to travel elsewhere for pathology residency. I'll be honest, it's not a terrible program. The strength of the program really rests with the attendings. Dr. Azumi and company are truly terrific to work with and they are / or recently have upgraded their facilities and some of the equipment. They just brought in a solid cytopathologist, so I consider the program to be on the upswing (most DC programs were in the trenches of sorts for the past decade or so, not sure why).

Still, it is certainly a smaller program, with I think only 2 fellowships (heme and surg). I didn't like the fact that you'd have to travel to learn dermpath, but so it goes. That's the same for GW too. The residents are a nice bunch, but Georgetown has been taking mostly foreign medical grads as of late. I may be wrong about that. And not that it's a bad thing at all, it's just the way it is.

Autopsy may be an issue there. I think they probably flock over to the county ME's office to fill out their numbers.

I don't know, I guess I was kinda tempted to stay, just because I got along with the attendings really well. But it's an expensive area, and in the end, I thought my interests would be best served elsewhere. You can PM me if you want to know more specifics.
