Hi guys, ive done a search and couldnt really find some answers to questions i had about georgetown SOM. i wanted to ask those entering in 2011 (or those already there) what they thought about the school, what makes it unique from your persepective rather than MSARs (lol)...any input would be great as im thinking of applying here 🙂

I also have questions about Georgetown SOM. The rumors are rising tuition costs, poor hospital management, great financial difficulties, lost senior faculties and lower quality for incoming students. Appreciate any inputs from current Georgetown med students.

Any comments!

I'm a little tired of people on SDN spreading unfounded rumors about Georgetown University Hospital. Yes, they had financial problems, but they have righted themselves. I currently work in the hospital and the research facilities, and from the way people talk about the hospital on these boards, you would expect there's mass panic here. Read these articles about the current financial situation. I believe a few senior faculty left many years ago in the thick of the financial problems, but we have recruited some big-wigs in recent years. In addition, after the recent granting of the HPV patent to Georgetown's Medical Center, they expect the Medical Center to profit $2 billion at the end of the next 10 years from royalities.

seriously, these comments are so ignorant that they don't even warrant a response. What school doesn't have rising tuition costs? Georgetown's tuition is not really any higher than that of any other private school. Lower quality incoming students? Yea, with an applicant pool of 10,600 this year, tough to find quality with so few applicants.
