Georgia school stats

For anyone who's interested, this is the official info from the Deans at UGA and Mercer pharmacy schools. They were presented at a conference two weeks ago. Just food for thought.

UGA (2003)
# of applicants - 932 (120 accepted)
Average GPA - 3.66
Average PCAT - 92
(This is up from 2001 when I applied when the numbers were 600/3.45/85)

Mercer (3003)
# of applicants - 1500+ (120 accepted)
Average GPA - 3.42
Average PCAT - 84

Sorry but I wasn't at the meeting when the South University Dean presented info regarding his school.

South (2004)
# of Applicants- approx 400
Average GPA- 3.30
Average PCAT- 82

We pale in comparison to our sister schools, but this is a significant jump from our first year! Plus it was announced today we have received Candidate Status from ACPE. Whoo hoo!

Average PCAT - 92

I highly doubt that the ave PCAT was that high. I'm not a hater; I scored in the 96th percentile, but that would mean that some of their lowest scores were 85th percentile or higher. I would expect about an 80-something average for just about any school that accepts PCAT. Does anyone know other school's average score? I think ours (last year) was about 85.

So... if you had 932 applicants and you accept 120, you screen out the bottom 87 percent of the applicants (assuming nearly everyone accepts). Given that alot of people retake the PCAT or do not appply with scores of 40 or below, it is possible that you could get an average entering score of 92nd percentile. Not that the PCAT is the only thing to consider in applicants. But still 92nd percentile is doable, especially if that is treated as a big part of the selection process. If you assume the average entering gpa correlates to pcat score (which it appears to), the 92 isn't that off the wall.

UGA uses a formula for admission. You take your Science GPA and multiply it by 25 ( 100 points possible) + Your PCAT Score (100) + your interview (100 possible points). So you basically get a score out of 300. I think the average score to get in was around a 270-280 range. Hope this helps anyone.

Does anyone know other school's average score? I think ours (last year) was about 85.

UF's average PCAT this year was 90 for accepted students. It was 85 last year with only 900 applicants. With the jump to 2,100 applications, it rose accordingly.

Hi!

I have some info from UNC. UNC takes all five numbers in percentile score box and add it up. So, the total points available is 500. This year, their average PCAT was 396/500.

Only in the south would UNC be considered a part of Georgia! 😉
