So I shadowed an osteopathic family doctor last week (2 days for a total of 8 hours) and I asked her via email to write me a strong letter of recommendation. She said that she could but wants me to let her know how to do it.

I don't understand what she means by that - I am guessing she has never written one. What do I say to her? Is there an outline or form for recommendation letters that I can supply her with? What sort of information should I give her? I am having her send it to interfolio so I will be already supplying her with instructions on how to upload the letter, I just don't think she knows how to write one and I have no idea how to tell her to write it...

Thanks!

Well then what do I do about the letterhead? And I also do not know how to write a letter!

She also asked me this question - "Not sure if I am able to send directly a letter on letterhead stationary? May have to fax it." Interfolio doesn't do fax, so unsure how to respond to letterhead stationary?

Here is LizzyM's formula for a LOR: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showpost.php?p=9431926&postcount=8

Perhaps she doesn't have an electronic version of the letterhead to type into? As in she usually just types her stuff into Word and then leaves some space on the top to print directly onto the letterhead? This was what one of my professors does.

I gave my letter writers a stamped envelope addressed to interfolio along with the Interfolio cover sheet so that they could just put the letter in and mail it in case they did not want to upload it online. Perhaps snail mail might work better for her?
