I am wondering if there are any students here who managed to get a residency in Canada or know of anyone who has after graduating from a Caribbean med school? What are the chances of getting back to Canada after going to the Carib.? Any helpful info. would be appreciated.

Thanks

Saba has about 10 students who got residencies in Canada last year, but it is a long shot and you should not expect it to happen for you.

If the 10 students in Saba had thought like you it wouldn't have happened for them for sure. But thanks for the info.

LOL...

Ok, go to Saba expecting to go back to Canada and make no other plans and sit on your thumbs for one year trying to pay off your $200,000 in student loans.

10 students is pretty impressive, I wond.er how many applied in Canada..

Who said I was going to make "no other plans"?. It's just an option to keep open.

Exactly. If you make other plans, then you are not expecting it to happen for sure.

Next time just thank me for my time and consider yourself lucky I even bothered to answer your silly question.:meanie:

This topic has been covered a million times, Canada is strongly anti IMG, there are thousands of foreign educated doctors in Canada who are driving taxis or delivering pizzas. You are better off going to the US, sure its not perfect but who really cares, its your life that matters the most, not someone else's. There is a lot more opportunity for IMGs in the USA.

This fact needs to be verified as I have always understood the actual numbers matched to Cananda from Carib schools to be much lower.
However if it is true then its truly a large number from one school and from a small school at that.It would appear the chances of getting a canadian residency are overall decent if one assumes the other carib schools at least equal it.

Next time, I'll consider myself lucky if you refrain from answering any of my questions.

well spoken from a member who considers sarcasm strength:laugh:

Lay off the gin, Churchill. It is pickling your brain.:meanie:

Weak comeback for a weak applicant. At least you're consistent:laugh:

Ok this argument is getting ridiculous so lets end it. And as for my strength as an applicant, I'll leave that up to the admissions staff.

What are the odds of a US educated DO moving to Canada to work after having done a residency and working in the states? I don't even know what that process would entail. . . .

It depends on whether the province recognizes the DO degree and then you would probably have to redo your residency.

haha... how cute. You are still trying to be a internet tough guy. Anyone who knows they are tough never challenge people to a fight. Scared and weak people always want to fight.
