Did anyone have the situation where you got an interview for a med school primarily due to one of your parents attending the school? I have an einstein interview jan 24th , and i feel like they only gave me an interview was cause my father attended the school. Do i still have a chance of getting accepted?

i don't see why they would waste their time interviewing you if they didn't think you were a decent applicant. So i think you have a shot 🙂 :luck:

Yea I know they wouldn't want to waste their time, but I just dont know how I can get accepted with a below average mcat. I shall see what happens.

I have been in the same boat- my father went to Wash U and my MCAT is a good handful of points lower than their average. I went to the interview thinking it was a pity interview, but my interviewer actually seemed interested in my application... BUT I have not heard a word since the interview...
Anyway, I think there is always a chance.

you CAN get in with a below-average mcat precisely because you're a legacy case.

It doesn't matter why you get an interview as long as you get one. There are other reasons why people get interviews that are out of their control (I don't want to get controversial, but race is one of them), but that's the way life goes.

You know, an average is just that...some accepted will have below average MCATs while many others will have above average scores. As a result, this creates an average!

Just chill, if you are getting an interview, you at least have a pretty decent chance.

Well, I'm pretty sure KU gave me an interview cause my dad went there (my grades/MCAT are only so-so, but I do have awesome ECs). My interview did go really, really well, so I hope that's the main reason they accepted me, not the fact that I'm a legacy. I'm really not in a place where I can be picky though. Whatever combination of factors got me in, now it's really up to only me to *stay* in and get good grades and learn how to not kill patients. 🙂

Gee, medicEZ. Kansas told me that unless I had "strong ties" to Kansas or a 36 MCAT/3.8GPA to not waste my time. I've got 29/3.5 with a double major and 10 years as a paramedic. Someone at KU must like you!
