When I first started as an underdrade I managed to fail 10 of 12 courses taken, obviously failing a few courses twice. After taking a year off I applied to another university based on high school transript, without reporting my performance at my first university. Now I have 3.8 gpa and a 40 mcat. I am worried that when I apply my first years transcript will show up. Does anyone have any clue of my chances of getting caught or does anyone have any advice, cause I can't stop worrying!

Unless that registration was cancelled, you have to report any college courses taken for credit. The end, that's all there is.

I asked a question similar to this one before as my friend had applied and didn't report a few courses he did badly in during the summer.

One of the persons on SDN said that the schools have reports of every college/post-high school class you have ever taken and that because my friend didn't send in grades, he faces possible rejection if the schools he applied to look at the reports and find out.

So, it's up to you whether you want to risk rejection :ninja:

From what I know there is some central place where they look up students for every credit every taken by them at any college.

So, if they look, you will be in trouble! 😱

However, if you apply and send those grades in, you will be rejected more times than not unless you somehow let them know of your situation ahead of time.

Check with a school anonymously and see what they say. Tell them about the bad start and the great everything else.

Then, make a decision to try it or not.

You'll also probably have to compound your original deception by lying about what you did for those few years. Might as well just go whole hog and claim you were mentoring blind penguins in Antarctica.
I guess if you remove any moralistic objections you are left with two decisions:
1) Likely get accepted somewhere very competitive but spend the next few years worried you'll get the boot
2)Have your pool of possible medical schools be reduced but go into it with a clean slate

doctors are expected to have the highest moral standard. i would be honest and tell them what you did. adcoms will see that you have matured. this is better than trying to deceive them, and them figuring out the truth later.

i don't see how it's even a question. if you apply honestly and get rejected (which could be for any number of reasons), you can improve your app and try again. if you are dishonest and get caught, you are DONE.

well i'm no expert. but i think if i were adcom i'd see how you changed and matured over the years.

They will check using this, and you will likely be caught - which will be the end of your med school hopes in the US.

If you do manage to get in and start courses, if you are caught at any point, you will probably be expelled (and be stuck with the loans).

questions like this make me sad.

just own up to what you did-- there should be no doubt in anyone's mind that lying/omitting info is the wrong way to go.

plus, i agree with SonyaB. i'm guessing those Fs won't be a deal-breaker once an adcom sees that you started over and did extremely well.

Worst case you can apply DO and retake all of the classes you got Fs in.

Don't know if this is a concern, but in my opinion, the medical school is not going to think to quiz you and ask if that first failed transcript was ever shown to the second university you attended...i would just go ahead and submit all transcripts.

Am I the only person here who smells a troll?

A one post wonder...

What would possibly make that obvious?
