Are funding opportunities available for Clinical/Counseling psychology on a Master's and Doctoral level? I would love to find outside fellowships, etc. to apply to that would fund me regardless of the school I chose. Do these exist?😕

Thank you!

Many people get F31s from NIH to fund their dissertation, and themselves throughout their later years in grad school.

I'm guessing that's not what you mean though, since I doubt many of those are obtained by people at unfunded programs given its for research. As for scholarships and the like - I'd check with APAGS, they probably have a list floating around somewhere with a host of options. I don't know if there are any that could cover the entire thing, but I bet there are a pretty sizable number of scholarships out there not many apply for, and you could probably take a decent chunk out of the cost if you are willing to sift through it all.

Yep, talk to the Military. They will be happy to hook you up with a full ride if you qualify.

Where are you from, Canada or the States???

In Canada, NSERC and SSHRC are the main sources for external funding for graduate programs as well as OGS for those of us studying in Ontario.

I don't know about the States, sorry.

Thank you, everyone. I am from the U.S. I would be interested in opportunities in the NIH family, and I guess I am wondering what you'd recommend outside of NIH, NSF, etc.

Though I understand that these types of programs would much more likely fund a person at a viable research program, it would be nice to know that your funding is tied to you, and not to the department you work for. (Hence, you wouldn't have to bank on landing a TA/RA position!)

However, my overarching question is, do programs like these typically fund people in Counseling Masters/PhD programs or Clinical PsyD programs, that may not be as research focused at a traditional Clinical PhD program? I'm just wondering if it is worth taking the time to apply...
