When I went to the Interview @ Temple, Brian told us that if you come in as an out of stater there is no way you are going to be able to get instate for the remaining of the 3 years. But he also said some ppl have gotten in state, they by passed it but he doesnt know how they did that.

I wanted to know if anyone knows how to get in state tuition at Temple? I think if we buy property we can get it but im not sure. If anyone knows how to get it and if they can share it that would be great! Thanks!

I think if you buy a house and or I believe your spouse works ..ie pay income taxes
I have a friend who has a bro at the podiatry school and they bought a house and got it after year 1, this was three years ago though. Maybe they are crunching down on that now, I don't know?

my husbands going to be working, so maybe that will help

I spoke with Pat and she said that there is a committee of Lawyers from Temple who make a decision based on an application you have to fill out. The application looks at things to see if you are just in Philly for your education or if you are becoming a resident (i.e. buying a house, your spouse has a significant job, you have children attending school, etc). The application is due in September sometime. Bump

My wife became a resident of PA right after we bought our house. It was about 2 months before she started school. She got instate.
My sister did the same thing at Upitt Dental. Here is the great thing, she bought the town house for 90000 and sold it for 140,000. Not a bad way to go

I am from Arizona and am just finishing up my first year at Temple and have had in-state tuition from the first semester. I am married with two children (for whatever reason that seems to have a lot of influence on the decision makers), bought a house in my name with no co-signer (this is important, people who have used a co-signer have been denied), changed the registration on my car to Pennsylvania, changed both our driver's licenses to PA, we both registered to vote, and closed all out of state bank accounts and opened accounts in PA. After all of this a letter is required wherein you plead your case as to why your deserve consideration for in-state tuition. The application is due the first week of September in order to be considered for the fall semester. Along with myself I know quitea few other out-of-state people who got in-state tuition, but they all were in situations very similar to mine, ie married, children, house. I also know of a few people who have gotten in-state only after their spouse worked in the state for a year. There is a girl in our class right now who is all upset because she was denied in-state tuition, however she lives in a house that her father bought and she does not work. She is all fired up and last I heard she was thinking about some sort of lawsuit, but she really has no case. Pretty much the committee is looking to see if you have any intention of residing in PA after dental school, so good luck. If you have any other questions feel free to email.

We purchased our home at the end of May and moved in around August 1st.
